LTB defines it’s first onslaught with rock and roll
Well, I ended up forgetting to photo/video document any of our jam. First time in the space since last April and I forgot to snap an instagram. Record a soundcloud. Bone a tweet. Plow a status update…?!
I don’t tape our jams for promotion, although it doesn’t hurt to get our handsome faces out to the masses. I think of jam documentation as a game tape, something to measure our progress - and more often than not, if practice goes well the camera never comes out! So, the less tape the better.
Moving along…
A lot of our jams were more “rock and roll” this time around. Kidd and I played a cover set back in November with a band that did Tricky Woo covers (they’re called Napalmpom now, and they make rad original music too) and since that show I have been digging the rock sound of the 60’s. I don’t think Lions and Tigers and Bears could ever play straight up rock and roll; it’s not really in our lineage to do so. But it was refreshing to break out of the punk/indie sounds that we’ve gravitated towards and deliver something a bit more raw.
Well, we’ll be back in the jam space in June after Kidd ties the knot with his lovely fiance Andi. If you see Andrew or Andi, give them a high five and a congratulations! Vegas, baby!
Awesome. I wish I could go on a Japanese TV show and goof off like this!
Beasty Boys in Japan in 1987. In this show Kaoru Kuroki takes part. PARTY ON ADAM YAUCH!
so hilarious

A Wednesday night set played to 8 people, 4 of which were members of our band. We forgot to record the bass… so the bass you hear is Jake’s mic with a ton of bass turned up. RIP the Marquee Room in Calgary (RIP the Uptown). This is as sloppy and live as it gets.
Set List:
1. The Hatchery
2. Think Batman
3. Concocted By Fiends
4. Cosmic Math
5. Rain of Hell Fire
6. River
7. City Streets
8. French Hip
9. Leaving Empty Handed
LTB update for 2012
We will be back in the jam space this coming Saturday.
The band went on hiatus after our show at Mount Royal University March of 2011. Life finally caught up with me over the last year. I had a serious concussion in September of 2010 that took away a lot of my ambition, not to mention the short term memory loss that often comes with head injuries.
Compounding the stress of this injury was a new job, buying a house, and having a son. All great things in my life, but nonetheless… more stress. And depression.
Anyway, I have been able to make amends with my cousin/friend Andrew Woods after the horrible incident that crippled me, and also sought out help from my doctor. Things are back on track, and now something I truly love - music - is a possibility again.
I can’t make promises for the rest of the band; it’s not my place to do so. However, I’m promising to put 100% back into our music so that hopefully another collection of original songs will emerge, a testament to the hard work this band always delivers.
Thanks for the support since 2004, Calgary!
Cody
